We met in 2002 at Savannah Arts Academy when we sat next to each other in Geometry. We dated for about a year. For silly teenage reasons that neither of us remember, we broke up and barely spoke for nearly 17 years.
Throughout those absent years our curiosity was mutual and we followed each other across various social media platforms keeping tabs and wondering what might have been. Our separate lives lead us to different cities and interesting careers but brought us back together in 2020 when the world seemed to be falling apart all around us.
When I temporarily returned to Savannah for a few months to "wait out the pandemic" I scrolled across a curious instagram post from Herb that read "still stuck in my cell" and I noticed he was indeed confined to his childhood bedroom - as was I!
I reached out to see if he'd like to meet on the beach at Tybee to catch up. With a strong ocean breeze we felt safe socializing. After a few casual walks on the beach it didn't take too long to realize we were falling in love again. I officially moved back to Savannah in the Fall of 2020 and we have spent almost everyday together since!
In January of 2024 Herb proposed with a beautiful ring on a stunning cliffside looking over the ocean in Puerto Rico.
